Samantha Stosur did the task yesterday and it has to be said that she was quite remarkable against Francesca Schiavone. She is going to play versus Li Na today and I fancy her possibilities in that match. However, the odds are rather poor and the handicap lines are not ideal either. Therefore, the second match might provide a better opportunity.
Maria Sharapova is ultimately getting some solid results on clay and I liked her performance against Viktoria Azarenka, although she should have lost that match. However, she indicated that she can play some decent tennis on the slow surface and that she will utilize her power well. She had problems against Viktoria Azarenka, but that had been expected. After all, the Belarusian is playing really well at the moment.
The world's number one has not been too convincing so far. Jelena Jankovic could have beaten her yesterday, but she was not able to hold her serve in the deciding set. Wozniacki was definitely poor in longer rallies (which was a little bit amazing) and her serve wasn't that effective either. She won fewer points than her opponent during the entire match, but came through finally. Nevertheless, Sharapova must be a harder test on her and I am unsure that she can improve dramatically in such a short time
